What is a CCTV Camera?
A CCTV Camera is a Camera with a Bnc connection that is designed to capture images from its surrounding environment and process them into a viewable feed. This feed can then be delivered to a recording device such as a Dvr which stores the video feed ready to be viewed at a later stage or sends it to a Tv or Monitor for live viewing.

What is an Ip Camera?
An Ip Camera is a Camera with an Rj45 connection that is designed to capture images from its surrounding environment and process them into a viewable feed. The Ip camera can normally be connected directly to an internet router on an Nvr Recorder. If the Ip Camera is connected to an Internet router than the user can normally view the feed live on their mobile phone, laptop or pc. If the Ip camera is connected to an Nvr Recorder then this stores the video feed ready to be viewed at a later stage or sends it to a Tv or Monitor for live viewing.

What is Night Vision on a CCTV Camera?
Night vision on CCTV Cameras is a function that allows the camera to see long distances clearly at night time, even in complete darkness. It is normally an artificial light on the security camera placed around the lens. Normally Infra-Red Led is used as it is cost efficient and produces a brighter light that covers greater distances than the equivalent of the older type non led bulb. The light produced by the camera is not visible to the human eye.

What is Ir cut on a CCTV Camera?
An Ir Cut (Infra-Red Cut) is a mechanical shutter that is activated on a CCTV Camera when it gets dark and the Night Vision is activated. Once activated it helps reduce glare from a person or objects close to the cctv camera. It is especially useful for viewing persons faces clearly at night time.

What is a Dvr Recorder?
A Dvr (Digital Video Recorder) is a recording device designed specifically to capture / record video footage from cctv cameras. They can normally connect to your Television or a monitor. They may also be connected to your broadband router and allow you to view video feed on your mobile phone or pc.

What is the difference between a Dvr and Nvr?
A Dvr recorder is designed to record from cctv cameras with a bnc connection and an Nvr is designed to record Ip cameras with a Rj45 connection.

What is an Nvr Recorder?
An nvr is a cctv recorder designed specifically for recording cctv footage from Ip cameras. There are two types of Nvr recorders, Poe and Non-poe.
Poe (power Over Ethernet) Nvr recorders normally have 5 x Rj45 ports, one to connect the nvr to the internet and the other 4 to connect to Ip cctv camera, it also supplies power to the Ip cctv camera through the Ethernet cable between the Nvr and the camera.
Nvr recorders (Non poe nvr recorders) normally only have one x Rj45 output and so a 5 port switcher is normally needed to connect to this port on the Nvr, you now have 5 ports, one port to connect the nvr to the router and 4 ports for the Ip cameras. This system is non Poe and so each Ip camera needs its own power source.

What is a poe nvr?
Poe (power Over Ethernet) Nvr recorders normally have 5 x Rj45 ports, one to connect the nvr to the internet and the other 4 to connect to Ip cctv camera, it also supplies power to the Ip cctv camera through the Ethernet cable between the Nvr and the camera.
